Anthropic moves Claude Agent SDK / programmatic usage off subscription pools to a separately-metered API-rate credit (June 15)
Per Anthropic's own help center, starting June 15, 2026 programmatic Claude usage - the Agent SDK and `claude -p` headless mode - stops drawing from Pro/Max/Team/Enterprise subscription limits and instead draws from a separate monthly Agent SDK credit billed at standard API rates. Interactive Claude Code in the terminal is unaffected. For anyone running agents or automations on a Claude subscription, the prior 'programmatic loops at subscription pricing' arrangement ends - that usage is now metered at full API rates.
Claude (Anthropic) did not respond inside the 30-day window. This receipt now reads as uncontested in the public record.
Anthropic's support documentation confirms the mechanism and date: 'Agent SDK and claude-p usage on subscription plans will draw from a new monthly Agent SDK credit, separate from your interactive usage limits,' effective 2026-06-15.
Anthropic's support documentation confirms the mechanism and date: 'Agent SDK and claude-p usage on subscription plans will draw from a new monthly Agent SDK credit, separate from your interactive usage limits,' effective 2026-06-15. The new credit is sized to each plan's subscription fee and billed at standard API rates. Multiple independent reports put the monthly credit at $20 (Pro), $100 (Max 5x), and $200 (Max 20x) with no rollover - a $20 Pro credit reportedly covering ~30-50 medium agent tasks/month - but those exact figures are from secondary reporting, not the primary help article. Affected: Agent SDK, claude -p, Claude Code GitHub Actions, and third-party agents; NOT interactive terminal Claude Code.
