Plain English terms, no lawyer-bait.
These terms govern your use of gotnerfed.com. By signing in, subscribing, or using the API, you agree to them. Plain-English summary below, then the standard legal sections.
The deal
- We provide a service that catalogues AI vendor pricing and policy changes ("receipts"), publishes them with our scoring rubric, and offers paid tiers with alert delivery and API access.
- You agree not to abuse the service (no scraping at high volume, no resale of the data without licensing, no automated abuse of free-tier alert channels).
- The public receipts feed and methodology are free forever, MIT-licensed where applicable.
Subscriptions and billing
- Paid plans are billed monthly via Stripe. Prices listed at gotnerfed.com/pricing.
- You can cancel any time via Account → Billing. Cancellations take effect at the end of your current billing period.
- Refunds: pay-as-you-go, monthly billing only. Cancel anytime through the Stripe customer portal; you keep access until the end of the current billing period. No refunds for partial months.
- EU consumers: right of withdrawal applies under Article 16(m) of the Consumer Rights Directive. Standard 14 days.
- If your payment method fails, we will retry for 14 days then downgrade your account to the free tier. No data loss; you can re-subscribe any time.
Acceptable use
You may not:
- Scrape the public site at a rate that materially burdens our infrastructure (use the API instead, with proper auth and rate-limit respect).
- Resell raw receipt data to third parties without an explicit data-licensing agreement.
- Impersonate gotnerfed or any of our staff (we currently have no staff besides the founder).
- Abuse alert delivery channels (e.g. setting up dozens of fake accounts to mass-deliver alerts to a target).
- Submit false receipts to mislead other users.
Service availability
We target 99.5% uptime on the public site and 99.9% on paid API endpoints, but we provide no formal SLA on free or Personal tiers. Teams, API, and Enterprise tiers include a documented SLA - see your tier's pricing page for specifics. We will give 7+ days advance notice of any planned material change to free-tier features.
Receipts and AI Jury verdicts
Our receipts are best-effort analyses based on publicly observable vendor changes. The Nerf Score and AI Jury verdicts are our editorial opinion, supported by sources we link inline. We are not lawyers, financial advisors, or representatives of any vendor we track. Do not make purchasing or compliance decisions solely on our content - verify with the vendor and your own counsel.
If you believe a specific receipt is factually wrong, email corrections@gotnerfed.com with your specific objection and supporting evidence. We respond in the open.
Open-source license
The gotnerfed source code is MIT-licensed at github.com/virtualunc/gotnerfed. You may self-host the entire stack. Paid tiers include managed infrastructure, hosted webhooks, the Forecaster, and the firehose API; the open-source self-host gets you the public site + scanner + bot + AI Jury.
Third-party tools and content
gotnerfed's migration playbooks, Escape Pod, Optimizer recommendations, and llms.txt reference open-source repositories, paid SaaS tools, and other third-party services we do not own, control, or maintain. Examples include but are not limited to: aider, OpenHands, Ollama, Open WebUI, Cline, Continue.dev, Bolt.diy, Stable Diffusion WebUI, Coqui TTS, and every alternative listed in our public alternatives database.
We do our best to verify that each recommendation links to the real, current, maintained repository or product, but we do not audit third-party code, security posture, license compliance, or operational reliability beyond surface-level review. Star count and last-commit-date are observational, not endorsements.
You are solely responsible for evaluating, installing, configuring, and operating any third-party tool you discover through gotnerfed. Read each tool's license, scan its source, verify its install commands, and review its security advisories before running anything on infrastructure that matters. The cancellation URLs, install commands, config diffs, and shell snippets in our playbooks are best-effort and may change as vendors update their products.
No warranty
gotnerfed and all related services (receipts, scores, forecasts, migration playbooks, alerts, embeds, API, scanner, admin tools) are provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, accuracy, completeness, currency, or uninterrupted operation. We make no warranty that the service will meet your requirements, be error-free, or that defects will be corrected.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, in no event shall gotnerfed, its founder, contributors, or affiliates be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, including without limitation: lost profits, lost revenue, lost data, security breaches, business interruption, cost of substitute services, reputational harm, or any damages arising out of or in connection with:
- your use of any third-party tool, repository, command, configuration, or service surfaced or recommended by gotnerfed;
- vulnerabilities, malware, supply-chain attacks, or other security issues introduced by software you install based on our recommendations;
- data loss, data exposure, or operational outages caused by following our migration playbooks or running our suggested commands;
- reliance on our receipts, Nerf Scores, AI Jury verdicts, forecasts, or any other editorial content for purchasing, compliance, or business decisions;
- vendor pricing changes, plan removals, model swaps, or other behavior by tracked third-party vendors;
- service interruption, latency, scanner downtime, missed alerts, or stale data;
- actions taken by you or your team based on automated alerts, cancellation reminders, or recommendation outputs.
Our aggregate liability for any claim arising out of or relating to these terms or the service is capped at the greater of (a) the total amounts you paid us in the twelve (12) months preceding the event giving rise to the claim, or (b) $100 USD. This cap is the maximum extent of our liability regardless of the legal theory (contract, tort, statute, or otherwise) and even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages. Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion or limitation of certain damages; in those jurisdictions, our liability is limited to the maximum extent permitted by law.
Indemnification
You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless gotnerfed, its founder, contributors, and affiliates from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, costs, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising out of or related to: (a) your use of the service; (b) your installation, configuration, or operation of any third-party tool surfaced through the service; (c) your violation of these terms; (d) your violation of any law or the rights of any third party; or (e) any content you submit through the service (including waitlist notes, support tickets, or community contributions).
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Florida, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. EU consumers retain rights under their local law.
Changes to terms
We may update these terms. Material changes (anything affecting pricing, refund policy, or your rights) get 14 days advance notice via the weekly digest and a banner on the site. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance.
